Mass Building Workouts – Pack On The Mass First Get Cut Later

27 May 2010 Written by Barry No Comment

Mass building workouts are much different than workouts to get cut or to build up those little added muscles on your body. Building mass requires hitting the core muscles and hitting them hard. Here are some of the exercises which must be in your mass building routines.

Squats – If you leave squats out of your mass building workouts every other weight lifter is going to know one thing about you. You are not serious. Squats are the premier lift for building massive legs. Pay attention to having perfect form in this lift to get the best results and to eliminate injuries. Keep your back straight to slightly arched throughout the lift. Drop down to approximately a sitting position and then power back up.

Straight Leg Dead Lifts – While the squat packs muscle onto the front of your legs, the straight leg dead lifts focus on your hamstrings. Perfect form is required to avoid injury. Keep your back straight to slightly arched. Do not rock to the sides, keep the motion perfectly straight up and down.

Bench Press – The bench press remains the king of building massive chest muscles. This is the one exercise everyone serious in building mass in their chest uses. They may use other exercises to work their chest along with the bench press, but they recognize the bench press as the core exercise. Do not get caught up in trying to just hit maximum weights, focus on maximum weights with perfect form which focuses the exercise into the pectoral muscles.

Dead Lifts – The dead lift is the power exercise to build the deep groove and powerful muscles in your lower back. These muscles are crucial to the success of many other lifts. A week lower back will result in failures in many other lifts.

Barbell or Dumbbell Curls – Mass building workouts incorporate the curl to put mass into your biceps. You will not develop massive arms without the use of the curl.

Tricep Extensions – Having large biceps looks awkward without the massive triceps on the back of your arm. Extensions are the mass producing exercise favored by serious lifters.

Barbell or Dumbbell Rows – If you want a wide v-shaped back you must produce mass on your upper back. Rows are the ideal way to focus on these muscles. You can lift massive amounts of weights in the row, packing on major mass.

Focusing only on these limited exercises will pack on the mass you need, but must be combined with other exercises to complete the form and cuts you will desire. Mass building workouts are all about lifting heavy weights which focus on your largest muscle groups. This is the key to getting big and powerful. Once you have gained the mass, you can start sculpting, refining, and fine tuning your body into a work of art. You will probably always want to keep rotating these mass building exercises into your routines for added growth and muscle maintenance.
